We are free because of the brave
Louanne on May 26th 2008
I dedicate this blog post to Mike’s dad who was killed in Vietnam and to his cousin who was killed in Iraq. Additionally to the families who have lost loved ones in the service of our country. We are incredibly grateful for all our military personnel and their families and the sacrifices they have made for our country.
Please take some time today to remember that it is not all about a day off and barbecues. Â
It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag. ~unknown~

Thanks for the reminder, Lou! The more I travel, the more I’m reminded how blessed we are!
I agree with Jen Lou. Hope you, Mike and Nadia had a nice weekend.
Take care. CTG
Too true, and it seems that fewer and fewer folks remember that these days. We have quite a few friends scattered all over the globe, doing their job for our country. While we miss them terribly, we keep them safe in our hearts.
/hugs, Kiy
Very true. My sister is a Soldier’s Angel, and I really admire her for all the work she does. She truly is an angel to them.
Thanks for this post. One of our church youth kids was killed in Iraq nearly 2 years ago. He was not born in this country, but proudly fought and died for the life he had in America and I know if he had to do it again he would in a heartbeat.
Freedom is not free! Thank you to those who serve so we can have a free country.
