Nadia and I at Simply Fondue celebrating the end of Kindergarten. I had a gift certificate for dessert for two and thought Nadia would get a kick out of going there. She finished kindergarten about 6 weeks ago and we have already started her 1st grade school, but I thought this would still be fun since all her friends were about to start school for the first time.

When we sat down Nadia said, “What are those things? They look like dog bowls!” Then she picked up her skewer and said, “You could get hurt with this thing.” And so the running commentary of our night began. It was really fun to spend time alone with her and she thought the place was so fun.

When the server lit our chocolate on fire Nadia said, “WOW! Wait, are we going to get burned?” Then she wanted to trade marshmallows for eating because hers got too burned. We chose the Peanut Butter cup chocolate dip for our dessert. They brought out bananas, strawberries, rice crispy treats, pineapple, brownies, and angel food cake for dipping. The bananas were Nadia’s favorite. The most entertaining thing for me was how the male staff were falling all over themselves to take care of Nadia. Four different men came over to offer her more fruit, more marshmallows and more milk. You could tell that they really got a kick out of having a sweet little girl in the place, especially since they have so few kids they didn’t even have a way to ring up her milk.

Later that night Nadia helped me make some cookies for the staff at Oakmont and Mike took some funny photos of her.

We had to roll the dough into little balls and that is why she was so covered in chocolate by the end.
