World Vision Family Sponsorship

Louanne on Feb 12th 2008

I am very behind on sharing all my notes about the World Vision Child Ambassador Retreat last month. A cool thing I want to share about is Family Sponsorship through World Vision. For $40 a month you can sponsor a family in Ghana instead of just a child. I know there are a lot of people out there this would appeal to, because they would feel like they were making a difference on a bigger level, or sponsoring a whole family could be a family project. There are two families that I have sponsoship folders on and their information. These two families are only available through me. If you would like to make a difference in their lives, let me know.

Because of privacy issues I can’t post their information on the blog, but I can give a few details and you can contact me for more information.

Family #1 has a mother, one son and one daughter. The mother is a farmer and the village where they live is forest/savannah without decent roads and water supply.  Her son is 15 and her daughter is 11. The mother hopes to educated her children to the highest level possible to give them a chance at a better life.

Family #2 has a grandmother, mother, one son and one daughter.  They live in a rural area lacking potable water, health facilities, schools and decent roads. The rainy season makes travel and commerce difficult. The mother is a farmer trying to take care of her whole family. Her daughter is 8 and her son is 6.

I also have new picture folders of children available only through me:

Hope Children from AIDS ravaged countries are $35 a month.

1) Alinafe from Malawi DOB 4/27/1997. Female, orphan who lives with relatives.

2) Godfrey from Uganda DOB 7/14/1998. Male, lives with parents and siblings.

3) Augustino from Tanzania DOB 8/7/1997. Male, lives parents and siblings.

Traditional Child Sponsorship $30 a month.

1) Maria from Brazil. DOB 10/3/1998. Female, lives with parents and sister.

2) Maria G from Brazil DOB 8/29/1995. Female, lives with parents and siblings. She is close to aging out of her chance of sponsorship - please consider her and a chance for her to have an education.

3) Marcos from Brazil DOB 11/28/1994. Male, lives with parents and siblings. He is also close to aging out of a chance at sponsorship.

****I know that a lot of you who read our blog are sponsors, but if not, I ask you consider becoming one today. You can also do a search on my World Vision web page. Click the grey ”sponsor now” button and it will take you to the search engine. http://worldvision.dwimble.com/

Thanks for reading!

Aunt Jane / I got TAGGED

Louanne on Feb 8th 2008

First off I want to say HELLO to my Aunt Jane. I know you are a loyal reader of the blog and I just want you to know that you can email me anytime :) Jen has reported your question asking to me. Hee hee. I also want you to know that your post way back on August 1st when we were coming home was one of the sweetest things and I cried happy tears at it. Love you!

Next, I was tagged by Sindy at http://forallisonwithlove.blogspot.com/ and I am supposed to list 7 things you may not know about me.
The rules are to link the person who sent this to you and leave a comment on their blog so their readers can visit yours. Post the rules on your blog. Share 7 strange/weird facts about yourself. Tag 7 random people at the end of your post, linking their blog. Let each person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here is the list of things you may not know about me:

  1. Mike proposed to me in a hot air balloon as we floated over Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth.
  2. David Copperfield made me vanish in his act during a show in Las Vegas. (no I wasn’t “offered” a trip to his island….HA HA)
  3. Cookies are my favorite food group.
  4. I once sang in the fanfare choir at Disneyland during their Christmas service. It happens every year and one choir is picked to be the ones on the cool Christmas tree made of people. James Earl Jones was the narrator the year I sang.
  5. I was the high school mascot my freshman year. It was a lion costume with a big crown.
  6. I took a ride in the CareFlite helicopter after almost dying in a car accident where the car rolled 4.5 times.
  7. I moved 17 times as a child and went to at least as many schools. No, I wasn’t a military brat, I was a restaurant brat.

Now here are the blogs I want to tag. I have at least 20, so I narrowed it down to people that I don’t know some random things about. :)

  1. Terri at http://riobello.typepad.com/adventures/
  2. Christina at http://ourjourneytoalice.blogspot.com/
  3. Gina at http://mgdtochina.blogspot.com/
  4. Tracy at http://emanoff-china.blogspot.com/
  5. Mutha at http://wordtoyourmutha.blogspot.com/
  6. Kiy at http://rockingchairsandatricycle.blogspot.com/
  7. Mama at http://preciouswondersandlittlemonkeys.blogspot.com/

Thankful Thursday

Louanne on Feb 7th 2008

  • I am thankful that we have such a happy baby! The top photo is of her laying on the floor laughing. Who knows why? Baby minds are a mystery.
  • For that little tongue poking out in the second photo. When she carries around her giraffe when she is getting sleepy - out comes the tongue and I haven’t been able to catch a good shot until now.
  • For the adoption community and more rallying around Love Without Boundaries so they could win the Facebook Giving Challenge bonus $50,000!! The lives of at least 10 children will be saved with that money. A heart surgery in China is only about $5,000.
  • For all the people giving to Half the Sky and other organizations to help the orphanages in China that are being so deeply affected by the storms. For all the nannies and directors sacrificing so much to keep the babies warm and fed.
  • For the friends I have made at my church. I really have gotten to know some of the neatest people since we joined our church.

short ROAD TRIP

Louanne on Feb 5th 2008

We decided to run up to MO last weekend so that Mike’s mom, sister, Stoney and Nadia’s cousins could see her one more time before we went to China. The last time they saw her was August 11th and that’s just a lifetime in baby growth. We drove up Friday and back Sunday, but it was nice to visit with everyone. It was basically a room full of adults watching Nadia be cute, but what’s more fun than that? (hey, I know I am biased)
